So I guess I forgot to mention that my first stop on this whole adventure is on the east coast. Last Friday (the 15th) I flew to North Carolina to meet up with Jordan (my younger sister). She started school on Tuesday and I've just been hanging out at University of North Carolina with her. UNC is soooo huge compared to tiny little Chapman University. I've had so much fun meeting her friends and roommates. I've been hanging out on Campus a lot pretending that I go here. And unlike at Chapman, no one notices an unfamiliar face. BUT I have seen some important people: Ty Lawson, Marcus Ginyard, and Tyler Hansborough! I've also been able to see both my aunt and my uncle, Kristin and Carmen. It has been really fun to finally come to North Carolina to see more family.
A few things that are different from Washington:
Heat - I start sweating 30 seconds after I step outside, but it's good prep for the trip
Bugs - I've collected quite a few bites on my legs
Trees - There are no fir trees...and I'm pretty sure there were bamboo trees outside a house we went to
Men - Three complete strangers have already asked for my number or given me theirs.
Language - I can't get enough of the "Y'alls" and "Ma'ams," I'll probably have an accent by the time I leave :)
That's about it for North Carolina so far. I'm really proud of my ability to navigate around such a huge campus and a new town. I guess its training for being able to navigate through new counties as well.
I'll try to get a picture or two up of Jordan and I before I leave the country on Tuesday. Feel free to leave comments as well!! Love you all!
